Modern Yesterday - (Set time: 6:50 PM)
Modern Yesterday
Modern Yesterday is a sonic adventure channeled through prodigious, hard-rocking chops. Thoughtful, smart points of view crossed with the explosive power of live shows that are already a thing of legend in the band's native Fairfax, Virginia area. In 1995, while opening for Emmet Swimming, Modern Yesterday got an unexpected break when an executive at a Washington-based management company, CD Enterprises, caught one of their performances. They were starting a label and not only wanted to manage the band, but invited them to be on the soon-to-be label Jireh Records. Contracts followed soon thereafter, to the band's great surprise. Their first major release in 1997 on Red Ant Records was produced by David Kershenbaum, a Grammy-winning veteran who has worked with everyone from Joan Baez to Joe Jackson, Bryan Adams to Tori Amos, the band's debut self-titled album takes the band's stunning collective musical vocabulary and gleefully turns it on its ear. Modern Yesterday is excited to reunite to play with Emmet Swimming on their 30th Anniversary.
